Lighting your home with Hudson Valley Lighting

It's no secret that I have styling my home on repeat. I love our entryway table because it gives me endless opportunities to be creative with different kinds of accessories and lighting.
Recently,  I had the opportunity to partner with Hudson Valley Lighting and use their beautiful line of Troy Lighting Zen table lamps in our home. The super cool concrete like fabrication works so well in our space and the large scale balances so nicely with our console and oversized mirror.
I love the simplicity of the design and how organic they feel. They are super textural and add a layer of dimension to the vignette. They give off such a warm glow with the way the linen shade filters the outgoing light.

Even though we have overhead ambient lighting in this space I rarely use it because I am such a lover of lamp lighting. You can completely transform any space with the lighting choices you make. I've spoken here before about how important it is to illuminate your spaces properly. You can have the most amazing design in furnishings and decor but if your lighting stinks, it all can be completely ruined. Don't ruin good design with bad lighting.
Get to know your space.
Ask yourself some simple questions when choosing the right lighting.
-How much natural light do you have at any given time of day?
-How do you live in the space and what kinds of activities take place there?
-What are you trying to achieve with the design?
For example, do you want to achieve a feeling of comfort and coziness or do you need lots of light, for a possible workspace?
These are always good questions to ask when choosing your lighting and of course, never forget the overall design.
My advice is to always use lots of texture and layer it throughout your design,
using similar tones to keep things cohesive.
For example, I used layers of wood, stone, glass and metal in the vignette above. I kept the tones similar by layering grays in the stone of the lamps, the blanket in the basket and it even shows in the touches of greenery.  Layers of white in the candles, wall color and lamp shades.
You even see the wood tones of the console repeated in the woven basket and wooden stool.
I used touches of brass in the candlestick holders and frame of the mirror. The tones consistently repeat themselves while all the textures are different. This creates demension and keeps the overall design from feeling flat.

I couldn't be happier with how it all turned out and its one of my most liked areas of our home on Instagram. It just goes to show, that even the simplest design, done right, can make a huge impact!
