White Paint + White Oak = Perfection

If you didn't already know, we just finished our latest remodel home and I have to say the kitchen is my favorite part. What was once a very dark and drab space in the home, is now fresh and bright. The first thing we decided when approaching the new design, was that the wall that separated the living space and the kitchen needed to go. I'm not always for open floor plans but this time is was necessary to achieve the overall design we wanted. We painted the rest of the walls my favorite Sherwin Williams extra white, added custom cabinets with white oak built ins and island. Quartz countertops and custom range hood. And of course open shelving.
I'm so happy with the outcome!
The funny thing is, I had originally wanted to paint these cabinets a dark greenish charcoal color but I hesitated because I was afraid the room would end up too dark. With so many mature trees on the property the house felt a little dark with all the original wood moldings and dated paint colors.  I was afraid that it could feel that way again with dark cabinets.
I love a white kitchen but I think it can also feel cold and sterile if you're not careful.
It's so important to add in warmth with wood tones and organic materials.
I  absolutely love how they added depth to this kitchen with black accent walls behind the open shelving.

House of Jade Interiors never fails to give us all amazing designs and here is one of my favorites.
